March Home Maintenance in northern New Jersey
March is transition month: heating equipment has run for months and its condensation lines and filters need attention before the system winds down.
It is also when we look up: a visual attic inspection catches winter's souvenirs, from pest activity to the water staining that ice dams leave behind.
On the March checklist
- Clean filter in tankless water heaters
- Clean condensation lines from heat exchanger, furnace, humidifier, etc…
- Inspect humidifier water panel. Descale or replace as needed.
- Test all drains. Clean out drain lines and adjust stoppers as needed.
- Visually inspect attic for pests and water damage
- Monitor softener salt and furnace filter. Fill/replace as needed.
- Visual inspection of home exterior addressing vent/air intake obstructions
- As time allows, address items on homeowner's to-do list. See list of common services below.
